EDUCATION

I graduated from Aldine at the age of 17.  My parents packed me up that summer and took me to Sam Houston Teachers College following our graduation.  If I could have packed everything back up into my Metropolitan, I would have followed them back home.  Okay, I was too immature to leave home yet.

In the fall, Sonny Henderson joined me at Sam Houston.  We married the next January and left to come back home.  We had three beautiful children and I was a stay-at-home mom until we divorced.

FAMILY

Our three children have blessed us with five grandchildren and one great grandson.  They live in the Houston area with the exception of the only granddaughter and her son.

WORK

I worked at Southwestern Bell until I escaped and worked at Gulf Oil.  I was supervisor in charge of telecommunications and office moves.  My strong point is coordination of events.  After 11 years, I took early retirement to pursue other interests in 1985.

With the crash in the ‘80’s, that was probably not a good move.  Oh well, I’m a survivor and worked for British Petroleum in the facility management.  A subsidiary was created and was responsible for mainframe and network security until that subsidiary was sold.  After owning and selling two postal retail businesses, I joined MCI/WorldCom for five years until Bernie Ebbers forced me into another retirement in 2003.

I moved full time to my home on Lake Livingston in Trinity.  Country life did not prove to be right for me so I bought a home in The Woodlands.  To keep me busy and out of trouble, I work part-time at a Methodist Church as the Financial Assistant.

LIFE is good and so very blessed.  I do not have a lot of hobbies but seem to stay busy with my children, three sisters and their families.  As the secretary of the Aldine Alumni Scholarship Association, I’m on a mission to have a successful 50th high school reunion.   Please join Gloria and me in offering your support.

Lastly, I want to thank Ken Blake for creating this website for us.  Thanks Ken!!!
