What happened after graduation?
After graduation,I went to work and attended U of H night classes. Since I was 1A in the draft I decided to enlist in the Air Force. I did not want to be drafted later in life. Spent four years in there and came home went back to work, and night school and got married. I spent 31 years with Southwestern Bell and have been retired now for ten.
Married to my first wife for 25 years divorced and remarried now for 18 years. Moved two years ago to deep East TEXAS around Tyler. We do enjoy the country atmosphere. My wife went to Pasadena High and the U of H also. Stopped to get her Mrs. degree and never finished school.
Children and grandchildren
I have one son and two grandchildren. They live in Galveston so we drive down to see them every couple of months.
I never thought I would…
The changes in our lives over the last 50 years have been astonishing to me personally. The computer has changed the way we live our lives and our childrens lives. The Age of information is all around us and changing every day.
Rewarding events since 1958
I have enjoyed my retirement more then I can believe. My wife and I enjoy selecting some place to travel to. We then study and read about it and then drive to see it. We did Lewis and Clark exploring a couple of years ago. Started at Saint Louis and drove to Oregon. We did though do it in two years.
What I would do differently
I would have finished my college work. I did an Associates degree but had a sick wife and child and ended up doing work to live. Did get to my senior year in collge credits though. Just got to be too old to finish.
Special interests or hobbies
The two of us enjoy a lot of things we can do together. Besides our interest in History we do: squaredancing, traveling, shopping, civil war reactments, metal detecting to name a few things.
Favorite vacation spot
We like to go to the Rio Grande Valley in the winter to see the numerious types of birds. There are birds there that we never see any place else in TEXAS or the US. Lots of fun running around the valley which is a beautiful place even during the winter.
Additional thoughts and comments
I cannot believe it has been 50 whole years since our graduation. My, but life has seemed to fly by. To think of the changes we have witnessed all these years and changes yet to come. I believe we have got to see a time in history that others would only dream of seeing.
